Pay it Forward Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $1,500
Awards Available: 1

At The Miley Legal Group we love to reward members of the community who go above and beyond for others. Volunteering time and random acts of kindness truly lead to a better community, which affects everyone. The Miley Legal Group not only works to recognize volunteers in our community through our Celebrating Volunteers Program, we recognize that building a foundation of volunteerism is important to the continued growth and development of our state and nation. As a way to further reflect that belief, we decided to establish the Pay it Forward Scholarship. The Pay it Forward Scholarship is a way to reward a college student who has already realized the kinds of positive effects that volunteering or a random act of kindness can have.

The Pay it Forward Scholarship asks that each applicant writes an approximately 750-word essay that articulates the importance of service and volunteerism. The essay should describe how the applicant strives to embody the idea of "paying it forward" through volunteerism. The student who produces the best essay, as reviewed by applicable MGL staff, will receive a $1,500 scholarship. (The funds will be sent directly to the college or university of enrollment and processed as a scholarship received with funds available for educational costs, including but not limited to tuition, room and/or board.)

Tim Miley, the owner of The Miley Legal Group, is a proud supporter of local organizations that give back to the West Virginia community. In addition to his passion for helping accident victims and their families, Tim served as both the Speaker and Minority Leader in the House of Delegates for the state of West Virginia, and he is eager to read essays from students all over the country about how the next generation of leaders are paying it forward.
