After using the services of ShredOnSite sometime ago I received a great follow up email (shown below) the other day. Whilst I don’t need to call on their services right now, it reminded me that I had promised a mate who has a need that I would give him their name. It prompted me to do so (and he has since used them!).

Contrast that with the complete absence of follow up from the bike dealer who sold me my golly gosh, gee whizz e-bike about 2 months ago… and from whom I have heard absolutely nothing. In fact I’ve almost forgotten the dealer’s name.

Now I feel pretty good about this state-of-the-art bike and all my mates are of the vintage to be thinking of buying something similar. They all want to know more about it and where I bought it, etc. But, really, I have nothing to remind me of the dealer’s details. I’ve never heard a word from them, haven’t got a business card, not even some referral cards. Not a jot from them asking how I’m going with it. Haven’t even had a follow up phone call or a reminder that the bike is due for its first service. Zip, nada, nothing, nil! The potential businees I could direct their way is huge… but they won’t get much of it.

All it needed is some follow up, coz I just love my bike, and I would sing like a canary for them! But I’m just a silent songbird!

The lesson: follow up, follow up, follow up.
