Casting call for Awkwafina
Awkwafina is getting her own show on Comedy Central. The star of Crazy Rich Asians will be coming to Comedy Central soon with her own scripted, half hour TV show named after her.
The Comedy Central series has got a 10 episode order out for the new show which is currently filming in New York City. According to reports, the series will be set in Awkwafina’s hometown of Queens New York and received the inspiration for the show from Awkwafina’s own upbringing and childhood in Queens, New York. In the show, Awkwafina plays a 20’ish Asian American woman living with her dad, plyed by BD Wong, and grandma, played by Lori Tan Chinn (Orange Is the New Black.)
