Performer Auditions
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Anne of Green Gables the Musical!

To audition:
Come prepared with one song that best showcases your vocal ability. You may choose to sing acapella or bring sheet music for our piano accompanist.
Also be prepared to perform one monologue or poem, ideally memorized.
You will also be asked to participate in a group dance & movement audition. Please wear comfortable footwear (dance shoes if you have them), and clothing you feel comfortable to move and groove in!

Location:
The audition will take place at St Matthew’s United Church, 729 St Clair Ave W.
The entrance is just off the parking lot on the east side of the building.

Auditions will be held on Sunday October 3 (3pm-8pm), Monday October 4 (6pm-9:30pm), and Tuesday October 5 (6pm-9:30pm). Auditions are open to everyone ages 12+.

Kindly be sure to arrive a minimum of 10 minutes before your scheduled time to ensure a smooth sign in process and give yourself enough time to warm up. It is strongly recommended that you research the show prior to your audition!

If you would like to submit a video audition, you may do so by emailing hillcrestvillageplayers@gmail.com with the subject “AUDITION TAPE: [name]”. You will need to prepare one song and one monologue. Please just speak to your dance abilities. Please note that if you receive a callback, they will be in-person.

Please make sure you are available to do the show before you audition. Missing three rehearsals may result in removal from the production. All rehearsals and performances will take place at St Matthew’s United Church, 729 St Clair Avenue West.

Rehearsals: Through November and December, rehearsals will take place on Sundays from 3pm until 9:30pm, and Tuesdays from 6pm until 9:30pm. Depending on your role in the cast, you may not be called to every rehearsal.
Beginning in January, rehearsals will be three times a week, schedule TBD. Depending on your role in the cast, you may not be called to every rehearsal.

Tech week: Tech week will begin on Sunday January 30. You may not be called to all of tech week, however the full cast is expected to be available every evening that week.

Performance Dates: Our performance will be on Friday February 4 at 7pm, Saturday February 5 at 7pm, Friday February 11 at 7pm, and Saturday February 12 at 2pm & 7pm.
Cast members are asked to arrive 1.5-2 hours before curtain to get into costume, check their props, in addition to any safety spacing on stage.

The production team has the sole authority in choosing the cast. Casting decisions take into account the wonderful diversity of our neighbourhood, and the need to reflect that diversity in the production. Casting will be prioritized to those who live in the neighbourhood. Everyone is welcome in this supportive community group and encouraged to audition!

Orchestra Auditions
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Orchestra of Anne of Green Gables the Musical!

To audition for the Orchestra, you will need to upload a video of you performing one piece that best showcases your musical ability. Orchestra audition tapes will be accepted until Friday October 8 at midnight.

COVID-19
All rules and requirements set out by the government in regards to COVID-19 will be strictly followed. This includes the potential of pausing or postponing rehearsals or the performances. We will take everything one week, one step at a time!

During the rehearsal process, we will maintain physical distancing and a masks-on policy if physical distancing is not possible. However, for performances and practicing scenes, we encourage masks off for directing purposes. If this is an issue, we can discuss.

As a community volunteer group, everyone in the production must be fully vaccinated. The safety of our cast and crew is the utmost priority. If this is an issue, please contact us if you have health or religious exemption why you are not receiving the vaccine, and we can discuss. Thank you for your understanding.
