PAID ACTOR OPPORTUNITY: Non-Union, Competitive Stipend.
ROLE: Seeking a Male Actor, African American, Age 40 – 50 to play the role of André Cooper in an original play titled RADIATOR by DC playwright, Craig Houk. The character is described as analytical, earnest, but also has a good sense of humor. He has a big heart, but has trouble connecting with others. Confident and conflicted. A bit of a nerd.
THE PLAYWRIGHT: Craig Houk is a D.C. based playwright, actor, director and producer. His original play, COLD RAIN, was awarded Best Drama and named one of DC Metro Theater Arts’ 2018 ‘Best of Capital Fringe’.
PLAY SYNOPSIS: Lou Brunazzi and André Cooper live across the hall from each other in a shabby apartment building in Hunts Point, NY. In the space between their units stands a noisy Radiator, which is connected to a deteriorating boiler. Determined to stop the whistling, hissing and banging that’s keeping him awake at night, André endeavors to turn the thermostat off, but is cut short by Lou who is determined to keep the radiator running at all costs. What begins as a battlefield between two seemingly inconsolable men evolves, bit by bit, into a makeshift sitting room where the pair begin to form a unique bond, which, in due course, grows into an enduring friendship.
REHEARSAL DATES: Late Aug 2020 through late Sep 2020, location TBD in DC (likely Shaw/Howard area). Four to five rehearsals each week, weekday evenings and weekend days.
