Google has announced that they are making their Stadia Pro video game streaming service free for all for the next two months, in an effort to help provide entertainment during isolation caused by the spread of COVID-19. The service goes live for free starting on April 8, 2020, and all that’s required for sign-up is an active Gmail account.

Most games offered through Stadia require purchase, though a Pro account allows for some games to be played for free. These currently include GRID, SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech, Destiny 2 and others.

Stadia Pro is usually a $10 per month subscription; those who have already paid for Pro access will not be billed for the next two months.

“We’re facing some of the most challenging times in recent memory,” Vice President and GM of Google Stadia Phil Harrison said in a blog post. “Keeping social distance is vital, but staying home for long periods can be difficult and feel isolating. Video games can be a valuable way to socialize with friends and family when you’re stuck at home, so we’re giving gamers in 14 countries free access to Stadia Pro for two months.”
