ANNOUCING: Your chance to win an HO scale model kit!

March 31, 2019

It’s time to announce ANOTHER prize for those who pre-purchase a copy of Speed Graphics and Steam 1958! vol. 1.

 Are you ready for this?

This week’s prize is furnished by one of the few Canadian companies producing model railway kits. I approached Nick Masney of ITLA Scale Models (“Imagine That Laser Art!”) a few days ago. Basically, I said, ‘Nick, of your line of laser kits for HO scale, what do you have that would be an appropriate Canadian prototype as a prize for pre-buyers of Speed Graphics and Steam 1958! vol. 1?’

Nick instantly responded, mentioning his CNR Grimsby station kit. I knew that would thrill my readers, especially those who have Steam to the Niagara Frontier, as that station appears in several 1950s views between those covers.

For more information about this craftsman HO scale kit of a CNR prototype, please visit the ITLA page for Grimsby station.

So now we’ll be drawing for two prizes...

That’s right! For EVERY copy of Speed Graphics and Steam 1958! vol. 1 which you pre-order, we will enter you in the draw for the ITLA kit for Grimsby station...

. . . AND in the draw announced last week for the David Oram signed print of Northerns Over the Muskoka River.

We’ll hold the draw for BOTH of those prizes on Sunday, May 12

Immediately afterward, we’ll announce the winners in an email broadcast.

Then we’ll put the winners in touch with both David Oram and Nick Masney (as applicable) to arrange for the prizes to be shipped!

NOTE that for both draws, we will accept online pre-orders for Speed Graphics and Steam 1958! vol. 1 until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019

For mail orders, we will accept envelopes with payment postmarked April 30 or before (we will wait a few days for them to arrive, but please don’t delay if ordering by mail because we may hold the draw before your order arrives).

“Aside from pre-ordering one or more copies of Speed Graphics and Steam 1958! vol. 1, what do I have to do to enter the draw?”

Nothing! We are creating a draw ticket for each copy of the book pre-ordered. If you pre-order two copies, you get TWO draw tickets (or THREE draw tickets for three copies pre-ordered.)

We’ll also note that there is only ONE draw, of several prizes

In other words, you can only win ONE prize for EACH ticket! We’ll draw the tickets for the prizes in the order that the prizes are announced. First ticket drawn wins the Oram print. Second ticket drawn wins the ITLA kit. And so on.

“Wait a minute, are you implying there may be MORE prizes coming?”

You bet we are! Watch this space, as they say, for more news next week! And be sure to pre-order your copy (or COPIES) of Speed Graphics and Steam 1958! vol. 1.

P.S. Of course, you know what to do now... please share this post with anyone who enjoys limited-edition books on Canadian steam railway operations OR who would enjoy building a superbly-engineered craftsman HO scale kit OR who would like a stunning piece of Canadian railway art for his wall.
