Story

Edie is 7 years old and loves animals.

Edie was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and associated developmental delays in October 2018.

Edie is a bright beautiful funny little girl, but sadly she finds life in the outside world hugely challenging. The anxiety that Edie suffers when being out of the home is very upsetting, she will have meltdowns which can escalate very quickly and trying to calm her back down is incredibly difficult. Due to Edies condition, she has no awareness of the dangers of road traffic and busy car parks. When Edie feels overwhelmed in these situations, she will frequently bolt for cover without considering the hazards around her. Keeping her safe is challenging.

We are fundraising to provide Edie with a specially trained Autism Assistance dog. We hope the dog will provide Edie with comfort and reassurance to help ease her anxiety and support her when she feels distressed. Edie has a special affinity with animals and providing her with her own trained dog we believe could be truly life changing for her.
