Preserving Historic Little Tokyo and Other AAPI Communities
with Huy Pham, Executive Director of Asian Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation
Huy Pham will discuss his historic preservaton experiences on a national level that include establishing Legacy Businesses and combating gentrification. He will also present his organization’s strategies in protecting and preserving historic AAPI communities that will be of benefit to Little Tokyo.

$62,500 grant from the California Civil Liberties Public Education Program awarded to develop and produce a feature-length drama on Civil Rights Leader Sei Fujii (1882-1954)
Shimbun" Film Project was awarded $62,500 by the California Civil Liberties Public Education Program Grant to develop a feature narrative and concept exploring the lives of the Nikkei community leading up to WWII through the lens of Civil Rights Leader Sei Fujii. Little Tokyo Historical Society, Fumiko Carole Fujita, and Jeffrey Gee Chin have dedicated over 14 years of research to breathe life into the forgotten legacy of Sei Fujii through historic designations, and award-winning short films and publications.
