A Guide to Freeing You to Create Your Life by listening to the messages from your body

Do you have a sense your heart is calling you more than ever before?

Calling you to come out of any last vestiges of you hiding?

The voice of doubt inside of you may tell you that now is the most impossible moment to step into your full influence, abundance, and leadership.

My response is to tell you now is exactly the moment to follow the calling of your heart.

Why?

Because your heart chakra is traditionally seen as where the physical and spiritual come together. It is the core of your energetic frequency and the root of all emotional and energetic healing.

Your heart is sending a message from your soul. It desires to evolve and expand through you following your calling, asking you to take action.

What Do You Feel In Your Heart?

Tell-tale signs of an imbalance or blockage of the heart chakra include:

  • Shyness
  • Loneliness
  • Depression/anxiety
  • Finding it hard to forgive
  • Finding it hard to feel empathy

The signs do not stop with these. When the heart chakra is overactive you may notice other emotional beliefs operating, such as:

  • Dependence on others for your fulfilment
  • Jealousy
  • High expectations of others
  • Harsh judgement of others
  • Needing the acceptance of others

Then there are the physical symptoms such as colds and infections indicating a poor immune system. Heart and lung issues, poor circulation, high or low blood pressure and respiratory and breathing difficulties.

As you would expect, the heart chakra is associated with love of all kinds: kindness to strangers, romantic love, compassion for others, friendship, family love, and self-love.

Without self-love, it is not possible to enjoy your full influence, abundance, and leadership. It is the essential foundation for everything.

The heart chakra is connected with the element of Air. It is physically located at the heart, chest, shoulders, arms, hands, and upper back.

Which is why when there is an imbalance in your heart chakra, your body will be calling for your attention by sending messages of:

  • Pain in your upper back or chest
  • Tight or, alternatively, overly flexible shoulders
  • Inability to receive love in any of its forms
  • Lack of self-compassion
  • Feeling a sense of lack or loss with regards to love.

My experience is this lack of love usually has at its core a lack of love for self. Which also links to not accepting the continuous love of the Creator for each of us.

The heart chakra moves out of balance when it experiences hurt. Emotions such as grief, jealousy, hatred, loneliness and isolation, resentment, the inability to forgive and betrayal cause the heart chakra to close.

Welcome To The Domain Of The Heart Chakra

In Sanskrit, the word for the heart is Anahata, which means “unhurt, unstruck, unbeaten.” Usually, the symptoms of a blocked heart chakra will make you gloomy. They will also make you feel rejected, shy, hopeless, and dis-connected.

These can make you distance yourself from other people. As you do so, you start to weaken the bond of your relationships. Eventually, you might end up losing some relationship links.

When there is no love in your life, hatred starts bubbling up inside you. Sooner or later, you will start displaying hatred through your actions and words. Again, this hatred will cause other emotions such as fear, to surface.

Fear may bring forth anxiety about food, ultimately leading to eating dis-orders. The moment this emotion touches on eating disorders, it affects the solar plexus chakra. Fear then attracts other emotions such as envy and jealousy.

Together they mess up your creativity, emotional stability and self-confidence. Impacting your relationships, which are regulated by your sacral chakra. The most influential being the one with self.

For to quote Blaise Pascal:

“The heart has its reasons that reason knows nothing of.”

Your fourth chakra is located just above the heart, and works to balance the lower three chakras (solar plexus, sacral and root) with the upper three (throat, third eye and crown). For this very reason, the heart is the first organ that manifests physically in a foetus.

Around your actual heart is a membrane called the pericardium. It is a thin sac which protects and lubricates the heart.

On a non-physical level, this membrane is a “protector and nurturer” of the heart. The emotional energy you feel, affects this pericardial fluid. It adapts to the vibration of the emotional energy you feel, it cannot distinguish between joy or pain.

Connecting Your Heart And Mind

As well as fixing your heart in place, the pericardium protects it. Doing so in a way that allows energy such as love to flow both in and out. However, when you are hurt at an emotional level, the pericardium on a non-physical and even physical level starts to build a wall around itself.

Referred to as a heart wall, any painful emotions associated with the hurt you experienced become trapped inside this heart wall. Building it to the point where love cannot flow either way.

An example of how love impacts our lives was Jena. Her belief was if she was visible, then she would not attract support from those around her. To attract love, she must be invisible. Today she has launched her own healing business and is in the process of moving from city life to a new location in Nature.

In addition to the heart, the fourth chakra governs the circulatory system, emotional regulation, the lungs, shoulders, arms and hands, breasts and lymph system, beginning with the thymus.

Green is the colour associated with the Anahata chakra — which is why so many buildings have indoor plants. Once your chakras are fully open, your being will naturally come into balance.

The auric colour of an active fourth chakra can be seen as a pink or smoky pink. Hence our representation of love as a pink heart.

The heart determines your health and strength as it focuses on how we feel about our internal world — the emotional responses to our own thoughts, ideas, attitudes, and inspiration.

According to the HeartMath Institute:

“it is not commonly known that the heart actually sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart!”

Are You The Victim Of Your Life?

The heart therefore significantly affects how we perceive and react to the world.

Which is why emotional hurt is the root cause of mental illness. Whenever such an issue appears, you can be sure the heart chakra is sending you a message it is out of alignment.

It is hurt that causes it to close. Personal issues could surface as self-loathing, resentment and the inability to forgive oneself, feeling betrayed and an inability to trust oneself.

Others may assume the role of the saviour or the rescuer; or on the contrary, falling into a mindset of always being the victim.

Love experienced through the heart chakra is not just about romance, rather about going beyond the limitations of the ego and its personal preoccupations. To open more fully to compassion and acceptance of all that is, without making judgements.

Once all your chakras are aligned, you will exude a compassionate energy, openly giving unconditional love and being in healthy relationships.

However, all our emotional debris needs to be filtered from our heart, eliminating them through our root chakra.

The challenge of the heart chakra is very similar to those of the solar plexus, the third chakra. Only it communicates with us on a slightly more sophisticated level and is tuned in at a frequency that encourages us to expand our love beyond our ‘Self.’

Imbalances may manifest as a blockage in the energy flow or, on the contrary, a tendency to become overactive or have an excess of energy.

In the lead up to writing The Seven Secrets to Living in Harmony I came to realise I had placed many such ‘layers’ around my heart.

Why?

Was I not loved?

Protection For My Heart

Or, was I suppressing empathy and compassion? Unwilling to express these and accept responsibility to forgive and accept because it might be seen as weakness?

It is love directing the fourth chakra´s involvement to create change and transformation. The desire being to assist others evolve and grow.

Which Carl Jung summarised beautifully as:

“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart.

Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakens.”

Blood represents the flow of life and the heart has the responsibility to pump it around the body. Hence why the most obvious physical effects of lack of harmony in the heart area are circulatory conditions such as angina and variations in blood pressure.

The Seven Secrets will help you understand the importance of both giving and receiving love. This is across all aspects of your life, personal and business.

Most of us have energetic blocks and imbalances as well as energy-sabotaging habits that prevent us from accessing our full vitality, which leads us to feel exhausted, scattered, dull… even ill.

In addition to issues with the heart directly, lack of harmony can create tension, insomnia, and immune system disorders. Because the heart needs oxygen, it also links to breathing difficulties such as asthma.

The heart chakra plays a significant role in shaping how you feel about money. It also corresponds to the feeling of worthiness in attaining money.

When you feel money is hard to achieve, you will be unable to find any possible solution to make money happen. Whereas really an infinite number of possible ways exist to improve your financial situation.

A person with an open heart chakra is altruistic and respects others. People around them will notice an easy going peace that emanates outward, no matter the external circumstances.

Opening Your Heart Chakra

As Rumi expressed it:

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

These four techniques are designed to inspire you to open your heart:

  • Sit in some quiet space, ideally in Nature. Listen to rhythm of your heart and follow your heartbeats. When you feel at peace connect to all aspects of your heart, its spiritual as well as physical nature. Then ask does your heart have a message for you?

Listen, converse and ask any further questions. Then ask what actions are needed to open your heart to its fullest extent.

  • Open your heart to sound. This speaks deeply to the human spirit. Heighten and prolong your quiet space by incorporating sound and music into your practice.

Listening to upbeat and joyous music is a useful way to build a positive outlook on life. Open your heart to the message of the music and allow its true meaning to resonate deep within.

  • Work with the colour green. Find ways to incorporate it into your daily life. Perhaps adding some green to your wardrobe or green accents in your space. Plants are the easiest way to add greenery and life into your space.
  • Use essential oils. To me these are always beneficial however you use them. You can support any or all of the above with: rose, geranium, neroli, ylang ylang, jasmine, bergamot.

When the heart chakra is free and unblocked, you will feel deeply connected, and you will experience a harmonious exchange of energies with all around you.

You will have a better appreciation of beauty, wonder, and magic.

Follow The Call Of Your Heart

Following the call of your heart will assist in creating a balanced chakra. It will also allow you to be who you are, instead of attempting to mould yourself to meet the expectations of others.

And no matter whether you have experienced blockage since childhood, before, or due to a recent heartache, opening the heart is the start of your healing process. It could also mark beginning to move from spiritual experiences to spiritual awakening.

This will enable you to discover the difference between true abiding happiness and what you thought would make you happier.

Freeing you to feel that money is a powerful medium to achieve and manifest your desires, a tool for you to do what you love.
