This is a play on the KANSAS CITY ROYALS for our Sunday Free Play. Kansas City will look to avoid the sweep on Sunday and it has lost three straight games, allowing 25 runs, and has dropped six of its last seven games following an eight-game winning streak. The Royals are now five games behind Cleveland in the American League Central and this would be a big win before a three-game upcoming series with the Guardians. San Diego has caught some fire with a 10-5 record over its last 15 games and it has been solid all season on the road but it has a tough matchup here. The Padres are 4-9 in their last 13 games against lefty starters and they are averaging just 2.5 rpg and hitting only .230 in 19 games against southpaw starters. Cole Ragans is having a solid season with a 3.49 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 12 starts and that includes two starts allowing 14 runs in eight innings against the Angels and Orioles. Take those out and his ERA drops to 1.83 in his 10 other outings and his 3.37 xERA is the best in the entire staff and shows no sign of regression. Michael King has been up and down but still pretty solid as well with a 4.03 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 11 starts and one relief appearance and his xERA of 4.13 shows no positive progression.
