New Survival Reality Show is Casting Families to Live Off The Grid – Nationwide

SURVIVE MY WILDERNESS

Location: Nationwide

Type: Reality TV

NOW CASTING: The Producers of Naked and Afraid are seeking Families who want to live OFF THE GRID in ALASKA!

A Major Network with the Producers of Naked and Afraid are looking for families with 2+ kids (ideally ages 2-18) who want a more authentic lifestyle where there’s actual value in your work and family time is more than just 15 minutes in the car on the way to school.

Should you be chosen for the show, you and your family will move to Alaska for 3 months (as of now, August-November) and live with a family who’s been off the grid for 9 years. During that time their family will teach your family how to: hunt, trap, clean, fish, forage, build a house, purify water, build & maintain a garden, etc. And should you do all this successfully – you will be given 10 acres of land!

This looks like a good show. Can’t wait to watch. I’ve looked into wwoofing or using help exchange to check out off the grid living, and want to earn my cert in permaculture design. I’m interested in doing this show. I’d love to, actually, but I don’t have 2 kids over 2 years. That’s a strange requirement. My daughter just turned one.

If you guys want some more information to help the family out on how to live off grid just get a hold of me. My family and I have been living off grid since we moved to Alaska in 2004. We have wind and solar and I make our own wind generators. We have surface water that we filter and put it holding tanks. We built our on home. We hunt, trap and fish. We live a very independent and free lifestyle.

I live in Alaska (just moved) and people tend to forget it can get extremely warm up here in the summer/fall. Fairbanks can fluctuate between -50 to +90. That’s a fluctuation of 140 degrees!

  4. Joe

I live in Hawaii, and its not romantic either. I thought, “OH, Hawaii is going to be great”. Now, owning ten acres in Alaska is ten times better than the $500000 in debt I owe to live in Hawaii.

No. nononono. no. maybe if it was 10 acres in Hawaii. I know someone who lives in Alaska. They say that anything above ZERO Fahrenheit is like heaven. No just plain no. And get that romantic vision out of your head that raising animals and having a garden and raising everything yourself is really “satisfying”. It is a lot of disappointment, death, and real hard W-O-R-K. Every day. no breaks. Unless you are sick. And this is coming from a girl who grew up thinking “I would love to live off the land like Laura Ingalls” Been there, done that. No. You all go for it, it’s yours.
