New Disney TV series casting in Louisiana.
Disney is in production on a new project called “Shadows” and if you live in the NOLA area, you have a chance to be cast in the new Disney show.
Disney’s new project was kept secret for quite sometime but the cat seems to be out of the bag on this one. The publication Production Weekly, which lists many of the upcoming movies and TV shows in production has revealed that the show whose working title is “Shadows” is actually a Disney / Marvel Comics inspired TV show “Cloak and Dagger.” The new Disney show is beginning production next month in New Orleans and is being created for the Freeform Channel (previously ABC Family.)
This past December, the new Disney show auditions received an series order and revealed Disney’s intentions of filming the first season of the show in Louisiana. Season 1 will be filming for around 3 months in the area and is currently looking for area locals who would like to work as paid background actors this fall.
According to a story on NOLA.com, a local news site, “Cloak and Dagger,” is based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name, about two teens, Ty Johnson and Tandy Bowen. In the story, the 2 teens meet each other in New York after they find themselves kidnapped by a mad scientist. The two teens escape from the scientist, after he injected them with a mysterious drug. They realize that they are developing special powers.
The pair make use of their new found powers to become superheroes. Ty Johnson AKA Cloak, inherits teleportation powers while Tandy Bowen becomes Dagger, for her ability to create daggers made of light. The 2 characters are part of the Marvel Universe and made were previously introduced in other Marvel movies with appearances in the “X-men“, “Spider-Man” and “Avengers” franchises.
Deadline reports the roles of Cloak and Dagger have found their stars. Ex Disney Channel star Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph have been cast in the lead roles of Ty Johnson and Tandy Bowen AKA Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger. Also according to Deadline, Joe Pokaski (Underground) is the showrunner with Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball) set to direct the first episode of “Cloak & Dagger.”
