I’ve always believed in offering an incentive if you want to pull prospects through your door, get them to phone you, visit your web site or refer a friend to you.

So, as I’ve said in other editions of this newsletter, an incentive must be something that is perceived to have value and can range from free consultations, gift vouchers and movie tickets through to dinners, a night at a hotel, a sports car for a day or even more exotic and expensive items.

Right now in Victoria we are having lots of debates about replacing single use plastic supermarket bags with reusable shopping bags and there’s been a fair bit of discussion about it.

A crash course in cunning tactics and savvy strategies that will give your business an incredible shot in the arm... not for a day or two, but forever. Get it now!

But, really, I wondered if the offer by a chain of Real Estate Agents of a free reusable shopping bag would be any incentive for a prospect to march in for their freebie and, for example, list their house for sale or purchase an investment property. I would’ve thought that any offer by a real estate agency would have to be more valuable and worthwhile than that.

They are heavily promoting the offer on commercial radio which must be costing them a motzza! Still, I guess the only way to find out if it works is to try it and see the results. The old “test and measure” approach.

However my gut feeling would be to spend more on the incentive and a bit less on the radio. What do you think?

P.S. You are au fait with the meaning of “Sprats to catch mackerel” aren’t you? Some of my friends are telling me they don’t know the meaning. If not, its here.
