By that I mean that there are many people who will talk with me about what they need to do (or rather, what they have to do). But, unfortunately, when I follow up on them they’ve done nothing… they were involved in the planning but weren’t committed to making what they’ve planned happen. Putting it another way, they’ve spent a lot of time getting ready to get ready without actually making a move toward realisation. Now I’ve often emphasised the importance of the six P’s… proper planning prevents pretty poor performance. But so many people are so stuck on the planning they never turn it into action. Proper planning is all about how you visualise the way the hamburger will look and components necessary to make it happen. But until you assemble the components and put them on the grill you are no closer to the finished hamburger. The most important thing in thinking about marketing is making it happen. Yes, I know, you may get it wrong but getting it wrong is better than doing nothing. After all, the next step you take may be the right one and get things happening.
