Hey, doesn’t that sound good? You don’t think so? Okay, it’s probably because you don’t understand why.

So, let me explain.

My daughter and her family are up in Cairns which is a long way from where my wife and I live. So, we only get rare opportunities to head north to see them.

That means I’ve missed seeing a lot of the Cairns grandchildren growing up, particularly as they get part time jobs.

Levi, the oldest of the two grandchildren in Cairns, has been a long time and very well regarded employee of McDonalds. He loves working there, has always done a great job and been a valued employee. He’s had enough shifts and saved hard so that he was able buy his own car well before he passed his driver’s license.

But you know I’ve never seen him at work at McDonald’s.

So today, I hopped in the car and went through the drive-through at Maccas. A young male, I wasn’t really sure was Levi, asked me for my order. In the hope that it was and to give him a hint that it was me, I completed my order with “Thank you, young man“ a phrase Levi knows I use when talking to him.

How great was the reply I got, “Drive-through grandpa!”

Gee, that made me feel good as I drove to the collect window. Nobody has ever known me at McDonald’s and having my order taken by my grandson just made my day.

Maybe they should have his photo on the back of a bus!

I hope telling you about it will make your day too.
