Are you like me and have got tons of projects you’d really like to get going on but never seem ready to make them happen? You just can’t get started.

Well I’ve got the answer. It’s simple!

Take the first step!

It’s always the hardest but after that it’s all downhill and pretty easy.

I was reminded of that the other day when I was out riding with my mates and the rain was making it hard to continue. We adjourned to Maccas to see what the weather would do.

And it’s amazing, as I said to my mates, the rain always seems to be far heavier and the showers far more frequent when you’re sitting in a nice warm place, drinking coffee with conversational mates.

But, at some stage guilt creeps in, and you decide to get going.

When you make the decision to get out into it, the rain is never half as heavy or the showers as frequent.

The difficult thing was just taking that first step.

And then I was reminded of the same conundrum in my running days.

The rain always looked heavier and more frequent when I was standing inside debating whether I should get out into it.

When, with my mates encouragement, we actually started to run it was always a joy after a few paces.

Getting started was always the problem that we had to overcome and, when we did, the results were fantastic!.

So, if you’ve got a project or an activity you really want to get into, do what we did and just take the first step.

That first step is always the hardest but it’s the most rewarding.
