I was sitting at my desk waiting for the sun to beam through my window (as the Weather Bureau has promised) when it hit me that I should wish you all the best on the first day of spring.

The harbinger of spring for me is the daffodil and, when I went to school, we all had to learn ‘Daffodils” by William Wordsworth.

So, I’ve googled and found the poem and, better still, a picture of the very plot of daffodils that inspired the old boy to write the poem.

The picture is of daffodils at Ullswater. In 1802 William and Dorothy Wordsworth visited Glencoyne Park. On 15th April 1802, they passed the strip of land at Glencoyne Bay, called Ullswater. It was this visit that gave Wordsworth the inspiration to write this famous poem.

Enjoy spring, see it here with your own eyes and drink in the day.
