Roof Slides Off Concord Home

Concord Firefighters, code enforcement assessing damage to West End home.

The roof slid off a West End home earlier today leaving the entire top of the house exposed and officials assessing the situation to see if there was other damage to the home.

Concord Fire and Rescue teams were called to Pond Place Lane at around 1:30p.m. on Feb. 21, 2015, to assess the damage after the roof slid off.

Officials at the scene stated that none of the family members that live in the home were injured. Code enforcement was being called in to check for other damage. Firefighters cleared the scene at around 3 p.m., according to Fire Chief Dan Andrus.

It’s unknown at post time what caused the roof to slide off. State officials have been warning of roof collapses due to weight from snow but an official at the scene said he had never seen a roof slide off its frame from snow.

The wood frame Colonial was built in 1997 as part of the Pond Place development of 14 homes constructed between 1985 and 1998. The home was the second to the last one constructed in the development.
