CHICAGO — On the ground and in everyday life, Chicago’s recent deep freeze may seem anything but beautiful to those bearing sub-zero temperatures and high winds.

But a recent video may change their minds, if only for a few minutes.

In a Vimeo video uploaded over the weekend, a drone captured a bird’s-eye view of Chicago during the bitter cold, showing what the arctic freeze looks like from above.

The video was uploaded by , and according to chicagoist.com, it was taken by freelance photographer Colin Hinkle.

Included in the footage is the recently opened Maggie Daley Park skating ribbon. But that’s not all it captures.

Check it out in the video above.
