Veteran stars Jerry O’Connell (Billions, Sliders) and Celia Weston (The Intern, Dead Man Walking) have signed on to appear alongside Katie Holmes and Josh Lucas in The Secret Movie, based on the best-selling self-help book The Secret.
The film — from director Andy Tennant (Hitch, Sweet Home Alabama) — centers on a young widow with three children who hires a handyman to fix her house, only to realize that, as he grows closer to the family, he carries a secret connection to her past.
Joe Gelchion’s Tri-G, Matthew George’s Savvy Media Holdings and Robert Katz under his Shine Box banner recently boarded the film to produce alongside Robert Cort Productions, Illumination Entertainment and Covert Media.
The screenplay was written by Bekah Brunstetter (This Is Us), with participation from Tennant and his longtime writing partner, Rick Parks. The movie began principal photography this week in New Orleans.
Producers include Cort, George, Katz, Rhonda Byrne, Paul Hanson and Gelchion, whose Tri-G banner is fully financing the film. Covert Media is handling international sales.
