John G. Fantucchio (1938-2016) was a student of the Art Instruction Schools of Minneapolis, the Cartoonist Exchange School of Ohio, and the School of Practical Art of Boston, obtaining a BFA from the Art Institute of Boston and an MFA from Syracuse University. In addition to his schooling, Fantucchio also studied privately with artists in Mexico, England and at the Art Students League in New York. Fantucchio exhibited in Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia as well as England and has participated in group shows at the Central Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon, the National Institute of Health, the Civil Service Commission, Strathmore Hall and the Smithsonian Institution.

As an artist, Fantucchio received numerous honors for his paintings, drawings, illustrations, cartoons and designs. He has also won acclaim at local exhibitions. His art has appeared in local, national and international publications.

Some of you may remember his amazing and beautiful covers on such comic book fanzines of the 1960s and ‘70s as Rocket's Blast Comicollector (RBCC), The Collector, The Buyer's Guide for Comic's Fandom (TBG), Fantastic Fanzine and Comic Crusader. His style was utterly unique and instantly recognizable, adding a huge measure of professionalism and elegance to those fanzines of yesteryear.

His interest in the realm of comic books stretched into Fantucchio’s collecting. We are pleased to present offerings from The John G. Fantucchio Collection in Auction #220, with vintage Star Trek, The Green Hornet, Superman, Batman and other DC Comics and Marvel Comics characters.
