Why Are You a Christian?

Someone asked me, “why are you a Christian?” It is a good question to consider.

I am not a Christian to prove to the world I am holier than everyone else. Neither is it so that I can argue with every religious zealot that has a website. I do not need Christ to give to the poor and feed the hungry.

It is much like asking someone about to drown, “why did you grab the life preserver?” It is because I love life. God is the only one that can offer salvation from death. The work was finished when Christ died on the cross for my sins.

Christ meant nothing to me until I realized that my life was only a short privilege and my sin guaranteed everlasting punishment. I am a Christian because of what Christ did for me. Now, it is the only way to live.

We are surrounded by people who want to live life to the fullest, but are destined to die in their sin without the gospel. What brought you to Christ will bring them as well if they believe.

Do the work of an evangelist. (2 Tim 4:5)

For His glory,

Justin “pro-life” Johnson
